• Religious Studies
  • Religious Studies is the secular study of religious beliefs, institutions and human behavior based on religion. This field attempts to describe, interpret and compare different religions through systematic, historical and cross-cultural perspectives.

Religious Studies is different from theology in that does not attempt to “study” or understand God. Rather, Religious Studies focus more on human religious behavior from a neutral perspective. It applies the methodologies of different disciplines such as Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy and History. Ideally, Religious Studies aims to promote cultural understanding and religious tolerance.
